Curriculum Mornings

To help ensure that we work together in partnership with our parents, we hold curriculum mornings.  These are times when we share information about the curriculum, expectations and daily routines.  We spend time explaining the importance of our philosophy of learning and how we work together to ensure the best for your children during their time here at Annabel’s.  As children move up the school, we also offer parent workshops of “Early Phonics” and “Literacy Development.”  This is an area that we are continually developing.

Halloween

On this day our school is full of witches, princesses, dinosaurs and dragons – nothing too scary though, and definitely a lot of fun!  The teachers set the garden up with fun interactive activities for the children to enjoy – black cats, slimly goo, blind folds, pumpkins and magical potations ignite the children’s imaginations.  Children parade around the school, singing scary songs to entertain the other classrooms.

Christmas Show

This is one of the highlights of the year for our parents.  Seeing their children on stage performing songs and dances to celebrate Christmas. We always have a guest visitor, all the way from the North Pole, who is greeted with great enthusiasm from our students.  Finally, our Christmas show wouldn’t be complete without a wonderful shared morning tea with our entire school community. Loy Kratong

Living in Thailand is very special at this time of year, and we take time to explain to our students the importance of this stunning Thai Festival.  The students get to make their own Kratongs, and float them in our makeshift “ponds.”  The children also get to experience Thai Traditional dress on this day, with all the staff and students dressing up to mark the festival. Sports Day

Colour teams compete in many different events of our Sports day; running, jumping and balancing. Laughter and cheering echoes around our garden, with our parents supporting their children.  We make sure that the morning is fun for all our students, and parent participation in our races brings a smile to their children’s faces. International Day

We have over 20 different nationalities that attend Annabel’s.  Asking our students “Where are you from” is always an interesting topic.  It is important that we reflect on the country (or countries) and cultures that we come from, and also learn and understand other cultures.  Our International Day is a colourful day of activities, songs, and sampling food from all over the world. Splash Day

Thai New Year water festival is as bright and colourful as the clothes that we wear at SongKran.  We look at the more serious side of the traditions and ask for blessings for the New Year, as well as celebrate with our SPLASH DAY, where teachers seem to have as much fun as their students.

Book Week

The world of books is such an important one, whether you are 1 or 61.  In our book week, we try to bring books alive for our students.  With children going on a “Bear hunt” in our garden, or the animals from “A rumble in the Jungle” finding their way into our school.  Our older students share books, and act out stories to our younger students, and our teachers and parents come together to share their favourite stories – no matter what the language.
