About
We are a small preschool, with 8 classrooms in a lovely leafy, home like campus. We believe that offering an exciting and enticing educational environment for the children to learn in is as important as the dedication of our teachers. We use our large outdoor environment as an extension of our classrooms, ensuring that learning is interwoven between all activities.
At Annabel’s you won’t see children sitting down together at a table creating the same thing, you won’t see children “learning” through worksheets, or even learning to colour between the lines. We believe there are many active, and far more interesting, ways for children to begin to learn. It is important to reach out to our students through their interests, and create learning environments based around them. Teachers plan for an environment to ensure that all areas of the British Early Years curriculum are covered and children’s interests are followed and expanded upon. Our teachers are stimulating and supportive of our children to ensure that they reach beyond their current limits, inspiring their learning and supporting their development.
Research shows that play is the most effective vehicle to teach and motivate young children. Our teachers are experts in planning for the educational needs of each child by providing play based activities in their environments. We lay the strongest foundations for the total development of each individual through a nurturing and child-centred approach. We cultivate a love of learning across a broad and balanced curriculum, where an enchantment with books, language and self expression, as well as a genuine interest in numerical concepts and the world around them is encouraged. This is achieved through creative and integrated learning experiences in a stimulating environment where children feel valued, confident and independent.
We believe that for a child to be successful at pre-school, a strong home and school relationship needs to be developed. Our teachers work in partnership with parents to ensure thatlearning and social goals are enhanced and strengthened at home as well as at school. British education is renowned for concerning itself with the development of the whole person. Learning is important, but not enough in itself. Young people need to develop their potential to explore and discover the world around them. We encourage our children to think for themselves, form opinions, relate to others, engage in sport and physical education and gain experience in taking risks and responsibility. We believe that while learning skills are important, helping children develop a positive disposition towards learning is crucial.
